The official Minecraft website has the latest Minecraft 1.18 server Java jar file. At the time of writing this article, the latest file is minecraft_server.1.18.jar. 1. Make a separate folder where you want all your server files. You can name it anything of your choice, but it is recommended you name it something like "Minecraft server" or "Minecraft Server 1.18". 2. Move the server jar file to the folder above. 3. Double click on it to run the file. It should run normally. If it doesn't, then you need Java installed on your computer. If Java is already installed, make sure to update it to the most recent version. 4. It will create some files. 5. One of these files is eula.txt. Minecraft Server List Open it with Notepad. Save the text file and change the eula=false value to eula=true 6. Double-click on the server jar file to start the server. 7. This will create your server. You can then join it by entering your public IP address, or localhost. 8. When you are done with your server, be sure to press the stop key. This will make sure it is not running in the background when you close it. 9. Port forwarding is required in order to allow friends to join you server. 10. Go to your router's settings via a browser. 11. You will need to locate port forward settings. It is usually located in advanced settings. You can also check out the port forward settings of your router. 12. Add a port forward. 13. Give your Service or ID a name. 14. Change the Protocol from TCP/UDP. 15. Change the ports from external to internal to 25565 This is an extremely important step. 16. And for your internal address add your IPV4 address. 17. Save the settings above. In case you have trouble with port forwarding then you should look up a tutorial on how you can port forward for your router. 18. Your public IP address and ":25565" suffix can be used by your friends to join your server. They should enter something that looks like 123.4.56.78.25565. Don't share your public IP address to strangers. This can compromise your internet security. It should only be shared with your family, friends and trusted people.
