Microsoft announced that it has entered into a partnership with Hideo Kojima (the director of popular games such as Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding) for its Xbox video game console. Kojima announced the partnership in a voice message, but did not offer any information about the game, its name, or when it will be released.

Kojima stated that it might take some time, via translators during the announcement. Popular as a developer and head of Kojima Productions, Kojima is famous for his dedication to quality in his games. Sometimes it can take several years. Kojima suggested that Microsoft's cloud gaming technology would be a major part of the title, saying that it was a game that was one he "always wanted" to develop. Minecraft

Microsoft's announcement came as part of its annual summer announcement event, which also included reveals of the new action game Minecraft Legends and the space adventure game Starfield, both coming next year. Microsoft also used the event to announce details about upcoming releases of anticipated titles like Activision Blizzard's online battle game Overwatch 2 and its next big dungeon horror title, Diablo 4.

Kojima's team is also developing a sequel to the cult PlayStation title, Death Stranding.
