Minecraft Java And Bedrock Editions Are No Longer Separate

We hope that you're not too attached to either the Minecraft Java or Bedrock editions of one the most popular building games for PC. Minecraft Tekkit Servers Microsoft and Mojang confirmed that they will be discontinued on the 7th of June.

No matter if you're an avid player of the amazing Sandbox game, you could be a bit confused by the existence of two distinct versions of Minecraft on PC that are the Java and Bedrock versions. PCGamesN offers a helpful guide to clarify the differences between the two, but regardless - when you purchased one, you did not get access to the other. This is a bit crazy.

Mojang and Microsoft are clearly in agreement as they have announced (thanks to Neowin) the Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. This single-purchase edition of Minecraft for PC replaces the separate editions. It will go on sale June 7 and will become "the only and standard edition of the original Minecraft on Windows PC."

Anyone who has either the Java or Bedrock editions of Minecraft will be upgraded to the combined edition. The upgrade is automatic, however it may take up to three days for all eligible players to experience the game.

Mojang confirms that otherwise "Java and Bedrock will remain separate games that have their own distinct features," with the only difference is that you don't need to purchase them separately and can play both through the same Minecraft launcher. This is a good thing for everyone, except for those who recently bought both separately. Whatever, it should make the act of downloading Minecraft significantly simpler.
