How Many Villager Jobs Are There In Minecraft?

There are currently 15 villager jobs in Minecraft. This is an overview of all the possible jobs a villager might take. If you're looking for a specific job, you'll have to place the job block which corresponds to the desired job next to the Unemployed Villager. The villager's work will determine the kind of trade they are able to offer. You can remove a villager's job block if you do not have a villager unemployed. If you're unable to obtain the desired trades from a villager you can remove the job block and then put it again to reload their trades.

Villager Appearance:

Not only do villager's jobs change based on their profession and their appearance, but they also have to be different in each biome. To ensure that each job is distinct, they maintain certain traits that are specific to their job. For example, all Farmers will have straw hats and all Librarians will wear glasses.

Stock trading

Mojang introduced the amazing concept of 'Supply & Demand' in Mojang 1.14. This means that if a transaction is carried out too frequently, not only will the villager be short of inventory, but prices (the quantity of the items or gemstones you need to give) will increase. Trades can be made up to four times before the stock runs out. Villagers will replenish their stock once a day. If an item isn't exchanged for, the price will go down.

Unlocking Trades:

Both players and villager gain experience when they trade. When villagers level up to a certain level, the next level of trades can be unlocked. Each villager is granted 5 levels of trades which unlock more and more high-quality items. A villager's level is represented by the color of their badge on their clothing. It is a range of Novice(Stone), Apprentice(Iron), Journeyman(Gold), Expert(Emerald), up to Master(Diamond). System32

Wandering Trader

It might seem odd however, it is the truth that there is a villager that is very different from the other villagers. The Wandering Trader is a passive mob, much like normal Villagers, however it appears randomly throughout the world, with no apparent pattern whatsoever. It has two leashed trading lamas which are similar to normal llamas but with a slight cosmetic alteration. Another oddity with this Villager is that it does not have trading levels, meaning that the trades you've played with him are the ones you're stuck with. Fear not though, for his trades will reset the next time he spawns.

The services offered by the Wandering Trader are regarded as generally obscure and difficult items to get. They are not particularly powerful or impressive, but valuable nevertheless. The Wandering Trader will disappear after 40-60 minutes.

Popularity:

You are a certain level of popularity as a player. Negative actions like attacking villages can reduce your popularity, while trading frequently or curing zombie villager are great ways to boost it. Negative actions increase prices, while positive ones reduce them.

Let's suppose that your village is spontaneously attacked by Illagers, while you coincidentally happen to be in the area, and you manage to stop the attack. You will be rewarded with the 'Hero of the Village' status effect which will further lower the cost of trade (except for trades that cost 1 emerald.)

Those are the basics of Villager Jobs and trading in villages. You should now be able manage a villager farm like an expert! Mojang tends to pull the rug out from under our feet frequently. Trading is a bit more complicated with Supply & Demand mechanics and popularity functions. You can make use of these features to either greatly help you, or even make trading a mess on your Minecraft server. I hope you found this article useful. I hope you have a great time and good luck!
